The latest in our series looks at whatever happened to Jaffy, a member of the UK CS female team and several other of the top women's gaming teams.
Name: Jaffy
Best known for?
Sadly, probably best known simply for being female, and all the rumours that automatically come with it - but you just get on with it, don't you?
Best memory?
I have plenty of great memories from gaming, from LANs across the UK and beyond, to gathers at 5am without having to worry about getting up the next day. The early iseries events where everyone just got on with each other, could relax and have a few drinks and games of poker were great, as well as the landed LANs at Oxford Brookes (remember c4u vs SK?). ESWC events were always an experience - as were the farewell parties at the end. Bootcamping in Sweden (2006) stands out as one of the best memories, but what went on in Stockholm stays in Stockholm.... ;D
Biggest regret?
While I probably could have spent a little less time working on the monitor tan, I have no regrets - gaming was always a blast, for what it was.
When did you quit CS?
I quit CS 1.6 around Christmas 2007. I had intended to quit CS altogether at that point but as everyone knows, you need to "quit" several times before you actually do it, and I ended up playing Source with some friends. That quickly turned into competitive play, which I did for a while (LANs, bootcamps, the lot), but I finally quit CS in May this year - just after I got engaged. I don't think I'll be coming back this time.
What are you doing now?
At the moment I'm growing up. I bought a house last year and as some of you will already know, I'll be getting married next year (to Exume - i0/ooo/artis etc in 1.6, then moved to source and has now also quit) so there's plenty of planning and saving to do for that. Work wise I'm a marketer in the telecoms industry.
